It is with great sadness that we unexpectedly announce the passing of Alexander George Somerville Burnett (1947 - 2019) Alexander (Alex) passed away peacefully at home at the age of 72 years old. He was born the son of the late George and Dorothy (Vowels) Burnett in Dorchester, New Brunswick, July 6, 1947. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 49 years, Mary (Putman) Burnett and his children Nicole (Richard) Alley, Cathy (Andrew) Miles and Sean (Jessica) Burnett as well as his cherished grandchildren; Alison, Natasha, Melyssa, Simon, Jacob, Ashley, Noah, Liam, Asher, Caleb and Abigail. Alex also leaves behind his grieving sister, Ianthe Stringer (Bruce) and brother Geoffrey. He is predeceased by infant sisters Jenifer and Rosalind. Also leaving behind many grieving nieces, nephews and cousins. Alex had a passion for camping and the outdoors. He enjoyed woodworking and model trains. The true loves of his life were his pet boxers and his family. Alex retired after working 35 years with Correctional Services Canada and dedicated 30 years to fostering children with the Kingston Children's Aid Society and the Prescott-Russell Children and Adult Services. His love and encouragement will be fondly remembered by many foster children especially Josh, Rob and Jose. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 24th, 2019 at the Limoges Community Center, 205 Limoges Road, Limoges Ontario at 10:30am. People can begin paying their respects at 10:00am. A reception to follow. Friends and family will have the opportunity to share their memories during the ceremony (eulogy).
