Nécrologie de Sheila Budd

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila Lillian Budd née Carriere in Ottawa on September 8, 2020, at the age of 66. Cherished daughter of the late Napoleon (Nap) Joseph Carriere and the late Helen Carriere née Sturgeon. Beloved wife of Bruce Budd. Loving mother of Kelly Spinelli (Johnny), Ryan Scissons (Alicia) and Kyle Scissons; and step-mother of Lori Budd (Sean) and Trina Brunet (Ken) Dear sister of Brian Carriere, David Carriere (Barb) and Dennis Carriere (Cheryl); and half-sister of Donna Goodmurphy (Glen) Proud grandmother of Brandon Scissons, Brianna Scissons, Catherine Spinelli, Justin Budd-Miller, Ty Brunet, Madison Brunet, Ally Brunet and Jessica Brunet. Sister-in-law of Merv Budd. Sheila was born in Sudbury on September 27, 1953 She always knew she would be a nurse and after graduating from the Algoma Regional School of Nursing in 1974, she worked for the Thessalon Red Cross Hospital and told many stories about her time there, delivering babies and caring for the people of the community. She was instrumental in developing the Sault College Health Care Aid Program which lead to her time working with Algoma Manor. She said those years were the most rewarding work she ever did. Later in life, Sheila went back to school graduating from Laurentian University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2008. Sheila ended her esteemed career in 2015 when she retired from the North Bay and Parry Sound Public Health Unit. Sheila was a curler and very much enjoyed her time with the Russell Curling Club where she volunteered in the kitchen and always had a great time playing in the ‘friendlies'. She liked golfing with the ladies, watching the Toronto Blue Jays, caring for her flower beds and going for walks with her dog, Sydney. She was an excellent cook and her butter tarts were legendary. She was always up for an adventure and lived her life to the fullest. Trying to sum up Sheila’s life in a few paragraphs is impossible. For those who knew her, you will know that she was a tremendous woman, with the biggest heart and the warmest smile. She will be greatly, greatly missed by all. In lieu of flowers, a donation to an animal shelter of your choice would be greatly appreciated. A Celebration of Sheila’s Life will be held on Wednesday September 16th, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Average Joe’s 3501 Trout Lake Rd., North Bay ON. For more information, please call at (613) 443-3286.
